Day 1 installation complete.
Can I tell you I was absolutely nautious thinking about having my name out 'There' – wherever 'there' is, I was afraid.
Several months ago, I had applied to have a studio space at a major art gallery downtown Knoxville.
I didn't get in.
It was going to be quite the leap to pay for the space and to be on display. It got me thinking and pushed me into the mind space of what it would mean. When this retail wall came open, it was a no brainer to apply.
I got in.
Now, let me clarify, gallery/studio space vs retail space are completely different mindsets. I feel like they are both going to create a business for me in the art creation process, but they will be in 2 different ways. The thing they both have is EXPOSURE.
So as I reflect on this day of... ahem... exposing myself, and the anxiety I had leading up to it, I am relieved that I committed myself to having my art out in the open. I'll out the nervousness away for tomorrow when I start wo worry about getting this wall filled. I have a personal deadline for Friday (Day and a half from now).
Countdown begins...
