Some Quick Tips for Content Creators
Lately I’ve been on a journey to try and find the “magic bullet” for expanding my social media presence, not just for the sake of likes and follows and vanity metrics - but I’ve always noticed a correlation to how often I post and how many opportunities or requests come my way.
In other words, the more I post, the more likely it is for me to receive opportunities that align with what I want to attract.
Just a few things that I’ve noticed if you are possibly stuck in your journey like I was and want to attract just more - whatever your “more” is.
1. What is your thing?
Obviously everyone on here has something that they’re good at, which is their talent. But the flipside of that is what makes you unique? If you like talking, create videos of you talking about things relevant to your audience or maybe start a podcast. If you’re not a talker like me, you can still build things into your content to communicate what you want to say without having to do a bunch of talking (more on that later).
2. What is your preferred social media channel?
I found it the easiest to expand on Facebook and Instagram because those are the platforms I use the most. I’ve actually automated posting the other platforms that I use less often in order to keep a social media presence and that’s been reaping some benefits lately too.
A good tool to use for this is a website called repurpose.io. I’ve had older videos blow up on TikTok just by me automating videos from my most used platforms to post to those also. But be sure to pay attention to what works best for that platform. I’ll dive into the data I’ve noticed lately in a later point.
3. Visual content is king.
Until you have a podcast that blows up, more than likely, your best bet is to invest time in making videos. It’s the easiest way to spread your message and the best way to keep eyeballs invested in your brand. If you’re not one to like being in front of the camera, you can use AI to help you with this – but most likely you’re gonna want to build yourself as the face of your brand, because people relate to other people more than companies.
On the same note, batching content if you’re busy is a good strategy. Set aside an hour or two to record, edit and schedule your posts once a week to stay consistent. Or if you happen to have longer breaks, get ahead.
4. Numbers DON’T lie.
I just happen to be a math person and enjoy looking through data, though not everyone does. If your posts aren’t doing as well as they thought they should, look at the analytics. If you don’t have a professional account through Facebook or Instagram, work on making that happen so you can see what’s happening. Is my audience too small or are they not responding to what I post?
Also, here are some cheat codes to help you get more traction on your videos: certain platforms respond to how long you can retain eyeballs on your videos. If you get really good at keeping eyeballs on your videos, they’re more likely to continue to push that video amd future videos.
Putting titles or captions on the video can make a HUGE difference in retention and ultimately attraction. Just bear in mind a lot of people watch videos with the sound off, so giving them something to know what the video is about if not captioning the whole video can be the difference between a save and a scroll.
Lastly, less is more. Because attention spans are so small nowadays, you can get quick wins with a really short, engaging video (my biggest viral video to date is 8 seconds, but the algorithm loves the data from it)
Coming with more tips to help later! 👋☺️ BTW not sharing these screenshots to brag bc some people in here do WAY better numbers than me on the regular - I’m just showing you the results of me committing to be more consistent in February 🙌
