Work for a broker vs Work for yourself

I'm sitting here going through jog boards searching for dispatching jobs. One listing describes the duties as everything that an independent dispatcher would do for their own business but instead you would do it for a broker to help build their business.

Would you work for a broker, or do you prefer to work for yourself, and why?
