Playing Video Games is worse than Heroin
Watched this video on the flight back from Europe last month, I was playing WoW for like 5-10 hours a week in the summer, and I've had phases of 3-4 months binge-playing games (civ 5, chess - top 2% on chess.com, LoL - iron to plat in 2.5 months), and I was planning on still playing when I got back. But this completely changed my mind. Becker uses this phrase as clickbait, sort of, but I see his point.
If you have a physical job, I think video games could be fine. But if you work from your desk, I'd stay away from them. In both cases you're just moving pixels on your screen, but the video game hacks your reward system in ways your work can't.
Among other things I've done, this has been a game-changer. If you want a break from work, get out of the house (or at least away from your desk).
