What drives your engagement?
In September, @Lukas Schmidt & @Sofiya Pierce were hosting the Networking challenge in this community, with the primary goal of connecting people and the secondary goal of getting the Star. I've always loved connecting with people, and have always loved supporting good people doing good things, so I started to spend more time engaging here. Really, it was just about the spirit of the game - I wasn't even aware there were prizes. That's how you know you have something great - when people willfully engage simply because it's fun to do. Lo and behold, that spirit of playful engagement got me to the top of the leaderboard for September and I won a free audiobook of He Who Fights With Monsters (I've read through the first 3, and have been on a bit of a break, but am very excited to jump into #4 here!). What other community does that?! A real tangible reward for my online interactions! Thank you Lukas & Sofiya for the generous gift, for your efforts to bring together these amazing people, and for sharing your talents within Skool. We wouldn't be here without you 🙏

What are your core values?
When we get excited or fired up to help people, it’s normally because it aligns with our values. That deep internal place where you are moved to make a difference. Recently, I’ve been moved to build my values around financial stability, peace and healthy love. Most of my life, I invited and created chaos as a trauma response to being rejected. So now I want to help others remove chaos from their lives so that they can thrive and make a life that supports their creativity and brings them money. Values example: When I see, someone overwhelmed with too much tech, and useless ads agencies bogging them down, I want to be like, “hey this can be so much easier.” 😁 What are your core values? And how do they play out when it comes to serving people?

How are you using gamification in your community?
This Monday, I joined a call where we talked about how gamers have an advantage in Skool. Skool isn't just a community platform. It is a gamified community platform. That is why it feels like we are playing all day because there are so many game elements baked in. The better we understand these game elements, the better we can engage our communities. As a gamer of over 20 years, I learned a few things about game design. Studying the best education and gamification systems also helped. That is why I want to level the playing field and share what I have learned so we can all leverage game elements to engage our communities. This is what I covered on the call, and you can get out of the video below: - Game Designs of Skool and how you can copy them for your own community - Deep dive into the level system and how you can motivate your members to level up - Rewards that create a stronger sense of community without destroying intrinsic motivations My goal is to make the calls more interactive, so I am including quizzes and some 1:1 speed networking. It is the best way to get to know the members of this community. Add the call to your calendar. Until then, I want to know: How are you using gamification in your community?
Are you treating life as a game?
Video games are fun to play. But as you get older, the number of responsibilities rises. There is not that much time for gaming. Your 9-5 job / business takes that much time of your day. What I have found to channel my interest in gaming is to treat my life (and my work) as a video game. Here are the ways that helped me to treat life as a game and might be useful to you as well: 1. Time-blocking activities in a calendar. Not only work but also fun activities. It is fun to watch a calendar filled with activities. You can even make them sound interesting. (For example: Slaying the dragon: create video for my youtube channel). 2. Having a to-do list app. It is similar to completing quests in a video game. 3. Setting clear goals. Achieving your goals is like beating a boss in a video game. 4. Enjoying the Storyline. Embrace life’s ups and downs as part of an epic narrative, finding meaning in the journey like a game plot. Not everything worked out as you wanted? At least you have a good story to tell now. 5. Treating your failures in life as gaining experience. By analyzing what went wrong and making conclusions, you are able to improve yourself. Did you spend time on creating video for Youtube but not that many views? Do not worry, you are working on your sword (your skills) to create best video ever (slay the dragon). What about you? Do you have your ways of treating life as a video game?
How do you celebrate the end of Q3?
This week is the transition between Q3 and Q4. Still can't believe how much happened in just 3 months. After chatting with @Avatar Daan, I read "The 12 Week Year" and realized we can do more in 12 weeks than most do in 12 months. This is especially true on Skool since it accelerates our growth and progress. At least that is what it feels like when I look at others who are still trapped in the social media world. Here, we are all working together, and if someone learns something, we all learn the same lesson. That is why I am taking this weekend to reflect on the last quarter. I want to make sure to record the lessons so I can still remember them in the years to come. It’s also a great time to plan ahead because the more we understand the past, the better we can predict the future. Celebrations don't have to be flashy with hundreds of people. Sometimes the best celebrations are quiet and reflective. It is also a great way to rest and recharge. Next quarter is going to get busy. Q4 tends to be one of the best quarters for business. - With the weekly calls, we can connect and get to know each other better. - With the audiobooks, we can listen to an epic story while changing the world. - With the networking challenges, we can support each other and share opportunities. That is how I am celebrating the end of Q3. By reflecting, planning ahead and also doing a spa day. How are you celebrating? Bonus points for dropping your personal highlights of Q3 in the comments.
