Fellow writers - can we talk about the elephant in the room?
We all start books with fire in our bellies. That 2 AM idea that has us typing like maniacs, already planning our book launch party.
Then chapter three, four or five hits. The excitement dies. The beautiful beginning feels like false advertising for the mess we're creating.
This is what I've learned from writers who actually reach "The End":
- They write terrible first drafts (and don't care)
- They show up even when inspiration doesn't
- They aim for 200 messy words, not 2,000 perfect ones
- They find their tribe
The secret isn't having the perfect plot. It's accepting that your first draft will be garbage - and writing it anyway.
Who else is wrestling with the dreaded middle right now? Let's support each other through it.
