YOUR NET WORTH IS NOT YOUR SELF WORTH
I believe in the capitalist economic system, but it’s not perfect. One of the problems with it is that it tells us that having more money and assets is a reflection of our value to society. That when we make a contribution then we are rewarded with money through the natural balance of the free market.
Sometimes this does happen but not always, this is NOT a meritocracy. This philosophy assumes a level playing field which works out great for those whom it favors.
Most people feel embarrassed to talk about it when they have bad credit or get into a hole. There are more people in the same boat than you think but they don’t want anyone to know. It’s not exactly block party small talk but if you are willing to talk about it with your friends, you never who will benefit.
