I want to share a tool I am loving right now, it's called NotebookLM. And here's how I use it to “steal” competitor outlier video ideas (the right way).
Not copy and paste. Not word for word.
I mean this: I borrow what is already working, and then I rebuild it for my niche and my voice.
Here is my simple NotebookLM workflow.
✅ Step 1: Pick 5 to 10 competitor channels
I choose channels that speak to my same kind of people (or one step ahead of me).
✅ Step 2: Find their outliers
I look for videos that clearly did better than their normal views. Those are “proof” videos (the market already raised its hand).
✅ Step 3: Drop the outliers into NotebookLM
I give it the outliers video links.
✅ Step 4: Ask NotebookLM for titles
I ask NotebookLM to study those outlier videos and suggest new title ideas with the same style, but written for my niche and my audience.
✅ Step 5: Rebuild it for my people
This is the key. I do not copy. I translate.
I keep the structure, but I change:
> the audience
> the examples
> the wording the offer mention (if any)
> the “reason to believe” (my real experience, my real setup)
✅ Step 6: Make it mine with one new angle
I always add at least one thing they did not include.
My rule is simple:
If someone watched both videos, they should feel totally different, even if the backbone is similar.
