For accountability I posted this on the FMTA platform as well and wanted to post it here to, so you all as my team can hold me accountable. I just finished reading Overcoming the Suck! I listen to Jocko and Goggins almost every day and have listened to Extreme Ownership audio book multiple times and have listened to Goggins new book Never finished twice and am on the third time now. I love listening to Jason and these guys! I am going to be implementing the things in Jason's Article on Overcoming the Suck Starting now! I have not been a good leader for the last 8 years since stepping out of full-time ministry. I have willingly played the victim card in my mind without letting anyone see it. I spoke positive most of the time and faked it! But in my head, all I could see was failure in every area of my life. Thank God, He never gives up on us! I am doing principle #1 now with this post! I am owning my failures as a leader to God, my wife, my family, and my friends! I have tried from time to time to do this but with no real lasting success. The team's Challenge has really helped me in this area. One of the stories from Jocko's book about a blue-on-blue situation that they had when he was in charge of leading an operation and how he took responsibility for this failure really hit home with me. I have been working on this area for a while now since joining FMTA and struggled. I feel like this morning this was a Rhema word from God, and I will not stop from now on. I will honestly and truly take ownership of my leadership role as a disciple of Christ, a husband, a father (my kids are married) as a friend and as a FMTA member and an Employee. I have messed up several areas of my life very badly and they are going to be tough to overcome but I am up for the challenge and hope everyone of you will help hold me accountable! As we say here, "Iron Sharpens Iron". Love you all and hope you have a blessed day. Blessings, Howard
