Special Thanks! To Mastering.com FTM & Arturia this week!
What a great event! Watching, learning, participating in these interactive fun events are second to none!
Thanks to the sponsor 'Arturia' and the Mastering.com team!
Special congratulations to Matt Mandoza for such an epic Remix and another big win!
WELL DONE! AGAIN!
Jake & Chris plus Dane & Caleb's work is beyond inspiring. . .
To be selected as Top 6 of ~60 submissions is very humbling, unexpected and a honor; considering I'm only one year into all of this creative production, mixing & mastering! It's a huge paradigm shift from being a promoter, running live sound engineering and the live sit-ins I still do from time to time. . .
To tie for 3rd is just mid-blowing and even more unexpected! Thank to every on who voted for my quick and hasty 8 hour thrown together dub-mix and a 10 minute attempt to master my own work. I am very much obliged to all! I credit mindset and lots of reps via ll the encouragement of mentors and peers. Wouldn't be to this level or be here with every last one of you.
A special thanks to Chris for choosing my submission, which is huge motivator and very inspiring considering the caliber of his work and professionalism. Caleb's comments are also very inspiring and motivating, since he tells it like it is. . . Not one for blowing sunshine. He's straight with us, and that's invaluable! And, for everyone else that left positive and critical notes in the chat are also much appreciated. Many were spot on and expected considering the lack of time and experience just committing to an idea, working through he process and most importantly making decisions to complete a track. I'm sure everyone worked hard at this challenge whether they got it done and submitted theirs; or, not.
I honestly just want to 'finish' projects, and work through them relatively quickly. And, get it submitted and continue doing better and better reps. I am interested in more feedback and comments on this quick first pass. At some point, I'm going to go back drop the VOX, remix, refine/improve this track with my own lyrics and better composition (my biggest weakness). I plan to submit to a SYNC Brief in the future. You can find the track here for the short term, until I clean off my drive for new stuff and improved tracks. I'm aware of many issues with this track, but I still wana hear it from ya'll. It would would be great!
My reflection and insight to all this is that, all this is like golf. It's not a game of perfect. If it were. . . we'd never have new music to listen too. The great Walter Hagen once said, "One great shot makes up for the string of bad shots that got you there..."
Today I joined the Mastering.com "Mastering Masterclass' today. I appreciate this offing! And, no I can't afford it, but also I can't 'not' to afford it either. I simply have been through too many hardships in the last few years to pony up for TRE, but I plan to join when I can swing it. I really want to earn through music in any possible and every way I can to fund it. I intend to make and take the most of this new program that I possibly can by working my ass off. My talent is not going to get me where I'm going. I found that out quick in Graphic Design School. Working and learning is the only way forward for me.
I hope to see and work with some familiar, and also new talented driven folks in this new program!
I know from experience on the SYNC 101 with Rob Schustack and Caleb Loveless this is going more than worth the time, effort and beating I'm going to take. It's all in the game! Game on! Hit it!
TA!
And, see and hear ya's next week!
TA! & God bless!
