Nailien = Nail + Alien "Nail" because around these parts we play with our fingernails. After all, this community is built around fingerstyle, and therefore it's naturally a Pick-Free zone! (just kidding lol you can use a pick if you want... But, just saying, fingernails are WAY cooler 😎) Where does the "Alien" come into play, you ask? Well, I think @Hans U. Haeni said it best: "We are all–in some way–aliens in this world, longing for a more peaceful and better place to come… Playing the guitar can somehow be like a haven where we can find peace and comfort..." Being a Guitar Nailien is about learning to dissolve yourself and speak instead through the metal and wood of your guitar. It's about learning to speak not with your mouth, and not with words. But with beautiful fingerstyle melodies–and through them, the colors of your heart. The "words" of your soul... As Guitar Nailiens, we have no destination. We realize there is nowhere to "get to". And there's nothing to "accomplish". Like life, the guitar is a journey with no true beginning or end. And so we learn more for the sake of learning. We practice for the sake of practicing, and play for the sake of playing. Not because any of it matters in the slightest, but simply because we choose to. And maybe, just maybe, we feel a little less alone in this infinite universe with the guitar under our fingers... and the sounds of the strings in our ears.
