When I worked in the restaurant business I waited on many Bay Area sport celebrities. Baseball stars of the 1970s like Joe Rudy, Sal Bando and Catfish Hunter.
My highlight was John Madden walking in at 10:30, closing time for a late dinner after the 1981 SuperBowl win. How do you tell the champion your closed. You don't. It was a steak house but he liked Teriyaki chicken, 2 breast. He went to Booth 3 and enjoyed a quiet dinner. He read his telegrams.
My time at the Refectory was great with lots of great memories.
