Lesson 4: How to Create and Set Up a Facebook Page
Welcome!
Now that your personal profile is set up, it's time to create a Facebook Page. A Page is perfect for sharing your business, brand, hobby, or community with the world.
Think of it this way:
- Your Profile = You as a person.
- Your Facebook Page = Your business, brand, or public community.
You can manage both from the same Facebook account.
---
Step 1: Open the Menu
1. Open the Facebook app.
2. Tap the Menu (☰) in the bottom or top corner of the screen.
3. Tap Pages.
4. Tap Create or Create New Page.
---
Step 2: Choose a Page Name
Pick a name that's easy to remember and tells people what your page is about.
Examples:
- Lorraine's Coffee Corner
- Facebook 123
- Daily Coffee Laughs
- Simple Facebook Tips
- Meme Central
Choose a name that matches the type of content you plan to share.
---
Step 3: Select a Category
Facebook will ask you to choose a category.
Examples include:
- Digital Creator
- Personal Blog
- Education
- Community
- Entertainment
- Public Figure
Choose the category that best fits your page.
---
Step 4: Write a Short Description
Tell visitors what they'll find on your page.
Example:
"Helping everyday people grow on Facebook with simple tips, AI tools, and fun content."
Keep it short, friendly, and clear.
---
Step 5: Add a Profile Picture
Use:
- Your logo, or
- A clear photo of yourself if you're building a personal brand.
Make sure it's easy to recognize, even as a small image.
---
Step 6: Add a Cover Photo
Your cover photo should show what your page is about.
Ideas:
- A collage of your content.
- A coffee-themed design.
- A motivational quote.
- Your business branding.
- A welcome banner.
Your cover photo is like the front window of your page—make it inviting!
---
Step 7: Create Your Username
A username makes your page easier to find.
Example:
@Facebook123
Try to keep it:
- Short
- Easy to spell
- Similar to your usernames on other social media platforms.
---
Step 8: Fill Out Your Page Information
Tap Edit Page Info and add:
- Website (if you have one)
- Email (optional)
- Business hours (if applicable)
- Location (if applicable)
- Phone number (optional)
Complete as much information as makes sense for your page.
---
Step 9: Invite Friends to Follow Your Page
One of the easiest ways to get started is by inviting people you already know.
Tap Invite Friends and send invitations to family, friends, or anyone who may enjoy your content.
Don't worry if only a few people follow at first. Every successful page starts with its first followers.
---
Step 10: Make Your First Welcome Post
Introduce yourself and tell people what they can expect.
Example:
"Welcome to my page! I'm excited you're here. I'll be sharing Facebook tips, AI tools, funny memes, and plenty of coffee humor. Thanks for following along!"
A warm welcome helps new visitors feel connected.
---
Step 11: Start Posting Consistently
Aim to post regularly.
Good ideas include:
- Helpful tips.
- Funny memes.
- Inspirational quotes.
- Questions that encourage comments.
- Photos and short videos.
Consistency is more important than posting a lot all at once.
---
