A Little Exercise That Helped Me Find My Way
When my world changed, there were days I could barely move, let alone think. It felt like life had left my heart and my body. I didn't know where to begin or how to pick up the pieces — and honestly, I wasn't sure I'd ever feel hope, joy, or passion again.
One thing that helped was sitting quietly with a blank piece of paper or my journal. I'd draw a line down the middle. On one side I'd write: What drains me? I got all the heavy stuff out first. Then on the other side: What lights me up? What makes me feel juicy? Sometimes it was something as simple as playing with my little Malshi Eléa, fresh flowers, a great cup of coffee, music, or dancing around the house.
I'd set a timer for five minutes and just write. No editing. No judging. Just noticing.
Over time that little list became something I could return to whenever the darkness — or that tidal wave of molasses — started creeping back in. Instead of asking myself what should I do, I'd simply look at my list and choose one thing that brought me back to life.
Sometimes the clearest direction isn't found by figuring everything out. It's found by noticing what gives you energy — and what no longer does.
If you try this today, I'd love to hear what surprised you most about your list.
