Recording from last night's Bible study
One of the topics discussed was tribulation, and the reasons we might be experiencing tribulation. This morning as I've been preparing for tomorrow's podcast, I was struck by Mark 1:12 - "the Spirit drove him into the wilderness."
I had never noticed before that the word drove in Greek is ekballo. It means ejected. It's the same word used to describe the casting out of demons.
God forcefully drove in Jesus into the wilderness. The wilderness represents an uncultivated, unpopulated place; a desolate area; it's a barren, solitary place that's often hard, and lonely. This closely mirrors tribulation.
I thought this was interesting ... what do you all think?
