Hi everyone, I’m Jun Yan.
My journey with the Erhu began at age 13, leading me to study under Maestro Zhang YuMing in 2004. Throughout 18 years of performing and teaching, what I cherish most is the Erhu's warmth—a quality so close to the human voice. There is a profound, grounding resonance in this sound, and I hope to share that simple joy with you here as we enjoy music together.
At Jun Yan's Erhu Studio, I want to move beyond rigid imitation. My goal is to guide you through physiology and performance psychology, helping you truly "hear" and command your own sound.
Whether you are:
✅ A beginner looking to build a rock-solid foundation.
✅ An advanced player stuck at a plateau, looking for a technical breakthrough.
✅ An adult learner returning to the Erhu to fulfill a long-held musical dream.
Together at the Studio, we will focus on:
1️⃣ Building a Scientific Foundation: No more fighting your own body. We will establish a transparent logic for playing, so you understand the science behind every tone and technique.
2️⃣ Structured Practice Checklists: Replacing vague goals with actionable To-Do lists, making your progress visible and steady.
3️⃣ Decoding Mental Commands: Learning how to efficiently manage your attention so that playing feels effortless and fluid.
4️⃣ Tonal Aesthetics & Control: Adjusting friction through mechanics to explore the depth and texture of the Erhu’s voice.
5️⃣ Sustainable Practice Habits: Creating micro-habits that allow the Erhu to become a natural, "painless" part of your daily life.
It is a pleasure to meet you. Welcome to Jun Yan's Erhu Studio—let’s enjoy music together in this dedicated space for the Erhu.
