David, once a shepherd himself, understood the deep care and responsibility a shepherd has for his sheep. In Psalm 23, he paints a prophetic picture of Jesus as our Good Shepherd—not only for eternity, but for our daily lives right now.
When we make Jesus our Lord, He takes full responsibility for guiding, providing, and protecting us. His promise goes beyond meeting basic needs—He assures that we will lack no good thing when we trust Him completely. Just as David declared, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,” we can rest in the same confidence today. God’s desire is that we live abundantly, with every need supplied and every step directed by His loving care.
Question to Ponder:
Am I allowing Jesus to truly shepherd every area of my life—trusting Him not just to save me, but to lead, provide, and care for me daily so that I lack no good thing?
