Today's study looks at the Day of Atonement in Leviticus 16 and God's plan to deal with sin. Two goats were chosen: one represented the Lord's sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, and the other, the scapegoat, carried away the confessed sins of the people, symbolizing the final removal of sin.
God gave Moses the sanctuary and its services as a blueprint to teach His plan of salvation and point forward to Jesus Christ.
The Day of Atonement was a special day for repentance, cleansing, and restoring the relationship between God and His people.
While it was first given to Israel, it also points to God's plan of salvation for the whole world through Jesus.
