🦅 Snow Update
Snow's most recent update is a mixed one, but her rehabilitation team remains optimistic.
After making excellent progress in flight training, Snow suffered a new injury. She developed a fracture of the major metacarpal, one of the wrist bones in her wing. The encouraging news is that her original wing fractures continue to heal well and remain stable.
Her veterinarians believe this new fracture most likely happened during flight practice while she was learning to land and maneuver in the flight enclosure—not because of a problem with her original injuries.
The good news:
✅ The fracture is well aligned, and they expect little or no long-term effect on her flight.
✅ She has been fitted with an external splint.
✅ She's receiving pain medication, additional calcium, and regular sunlight exposure to support bone healing.
✅ Once her wrist heals, she'll begin exercising in a smaller flight enclosure before returning to the larger flight pen with the other eagles as she continues preparing for release.
Her rehabilitation team described this as "only a hiccup on her way to recovery." They remain hopeful that Snow can still be released after she completes the additional healing and flight conditioning.
Every recovery has its challenges, and I'm so grateful Snow has such a dedicated team helping her every flap of her flight home. Keep healing, Snow.
Let's keep Snow in our thoughts and prayers. 🤍🦅
