When I first stepped into business, I had to wrestle with the realization that I was no longer tethered to the identity of an employee. Years of mental conditioning don’t dissolve in a night, and the shift to embodying a business owner is far less instant than people imagine. You’re not meant to become a tool for constructing another’s dream. Instead, convert your skills into tradable value in the marketplace—exchange essence, not hours. Hours are finite, but value, whether in product or service, can spiral infinitely outward. And as this spiral expands, you’ll notice a dissonance: the colleagues who once shared your orbit begin to drift, unable to comprehend the frequency you now move in.
