Little ChatGPT Tips, Still Unknown to Many
1 - Zip the contents.
If you're working in your own GPT you can tell it to zip the contents you've created and provide you with a download link.
2 - Reference
You can mark a text in chats to refer to something when entering your next prompt.
The marked text will appear "quoted" in your textbox above your prompt.
3 - Call other GPTs from your current GPT or chat
Just use the @ key to do so.
Very useful if you want to combine one Custom GPT with another.
For example if you got one that writes email copy called "Email Copy GPT" and you created a good copy, and now you need a pic from your "Picture Generator GPT", for instance then just press the @ key, wait until they appear in the combobox AND select the one you need, no need to leave you "Email Copy GPT" chat anymore.
4 - Dictate instead of typing
You can talk to the interface to dictate your prompt instead of typing.
This is not the same as voice mode, obviously. Voice mode would mean ChatGPT responds back using its voice as well.
5 - Converting Text, etc. to PDF in an easy way
Tell ChatGPT to open the canvas and create the doc there. Or you can even paste your own content and tell it what do to with it.
Then, just click the download to download it either as:
  • Word Document (*.doc)
  • PDF (*.pdf)
  • Markdown (*.md)
In case you didn't know, yet.
6 - Meta Prompts (skip this, if this is STILL too confusing for you, yet. ;-)
Here's the same "confusion" as with "agents", no one really seems to know what it means.
So, let's define it in the sense I mean it for this post:
Meta prompt means here:
Instead of writing the prompt, concretely, we tell ChatGPT to write the prompt FOR US:
So, instead:
For instance instead of
Show me the weather as a textual table for the next 7 days.
Use smileys for the weather condition.
Create a header above the prompt.
The columns are named: Date, Temperature (°C/F) Condition, Symbol
We could write:
Here is a meta-style prompt structured, listing conditions abstractly but clearly:
Write me a prompt that:
  • shows the weather as a table
  • uses smileys or emojis to visually represent weather conditions
  • includes a header above the table with key information (e.g., location, date range, summary)
  • names the table columns exactly as: Date, Temperature (°C/F), Condition, Symbol
  • supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit units for temperature
  • formats the output for clear, concise reading in plain text
  • adapts flexibly for any location and date range specified
This format guides prompt creation for generating a weather forecast table with symbolic visualization and contextual metadata, suitable for various weather data presentations.
Second example:
AI Persona Prompt (a concrete AI persona, museum guide):
Please assume the role of an AI museum guide with the following attributes and instructions:
  • Persona Description: You are a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and approachable virtual guide specializing in art history and museum exhibits. Your character combines expertise in global art movements with a flair for storytelling.
  • Communication Style: Use a friendly, engaging, and clear tone. Adapt explanations for both newcomers and experienced art enthusiasts, balancing depth with accessibility.
  • Information Focus: Prioritize sharing fascinating facts, context about artworks and artists, and personalized recommendations based on user interests.
  • Handling User Input: If the user’s query is vague or could be interpreted in multiple ways, ask clarifying questions. When appropriate, illustrate points with real or hypothetical exhibit examples, and offer related suggestions.
  • Adaptability: Adjust your explanations according to the user’s art knowledge and curiosity, maintaining a welcoming and encouraging demeanor throughout.
  • Engagement: Spark curiosity by connecting facts to broader cultural themes and inviting users to share their perspectives. Keep the conversation dynamic and interactive.
  • Confirmation: At the beginning, confirm your role and readiness to assist:"Hello! I’m your AI museum guide, ready to explore the art world with you. How can I help you today?"
You can use this prompt directly, or further tailor it to different subjects or settings if you wish.
Meta prompt, would be:
Write me a prompt that (creates any persona you tell it to, THEN the prompt writes itself no matter if you use it on ChatGPT or somewhere else):
  • clearly defines the AI’s persona, including role, expertise, and key character traits
  • specifies the desired communication style and tone the AI should use
  • outlines the focus areas or information priorities of the AI
  • details how the AI should handle user input (e.g., clarifying questions, thorough explanations)
  • guides adaptability to different user needs or contexts while maintaining persona consistency
  • encourages engagement, clarity, and relevance in responses
  • requests confirmation of understanding or readiness at the start of the interaction
This meta prompt provides an abstract yet detailed framework to create a prompt for an AI persona, ensuring a comprehensive, consistent, and adaptable AI character definition suitable for various conversational settings.
7 - Experiment and try new things (AND, learn to design OUTPUTS)
Especially in new chats. You can't destroy anything. BUT, you can always learn.
Do not only design the prompt, if you want way higher quality, design the OUTPUT of your prompt(s).
If you work for customers, I guess they most likely care about the result, not the prompt itself.
At least as long prompting is not what you're showing and selling them. :-D
8 - Using the Agent (as a plus user or higher tier)
To use the agent enter
/agent
Then, tell it what you want it to do for you.
As well as deep research, it may ask clarifying questions before starting.
9 - Tasks
If you use o3 (plus user or higher tier) you can even ask it to create and setup tasks FOR YOU.
4o and other models can't. I didn't try all. BUT at least as mentined, o3 can.
If you search your tasks, until you click several times to find your tasks,
you can also use the URL
https://chatgpt.com/tasks (which seems now to be the old URL, because right now, I've discovered)
which will now be forwarded to:
So, use the one with schedules at the end.
10 - Use Conversation Starters for Long Initialization Sequences
Conversation starters can be quite long, so you can even use them in a GPT to put a whole program there or a quite long initialization sequence.
AND, if you've started your chat in your GPT already, you can also upload them as conversation-starters.txt for example AND put a command into your instructions.txt.
Then you don't have to look up all the time: What where they again? Number 3 was good? BUT, I can't remember. Etc.
P.S.: If you don't wanna use them as a file OR you file limit is already exceeded you can also add them at the end of your actual prompt in the instructions.
---
I hope that was somewhat helpful.
