Nobody tells you this:
The moment you start choosing yourself, life gets quiet.
You lose:
people who only liked you when you were convenient relationships built on people pleasing chaos you used to mistake for passion
At first, it hurts.
You question yourself:
"Did I overreact?"
"Should I have stayed?"
"Maybe I'm too much."
But slowly...
You sleep better.
You breathe deeper.
Your nervous system relaxes.
Your standards rise.
Self respect doesn't say:
"I'm better than you."
It says:
"I won't abandon myself for closeness anymore."
What boundary did you set recently, even though it scared you?
That counts as growth. Big time.
