Welcome to Deaf ASL Animation & Design! 🎨
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to finally open this space for Deaf creatives exploring ASL through animation, comics, and visual storytelling.
What We’ll Explore & Learn Here:
👉 Clear, expressive ways to animate ASL hands, facial expression, and body gestures in the way characters feel connected and authethic
👉 Discover different creative approaches to visual storytelling using ASL
👉 How to design characters that sign naturally and uniquely
👉 Techniques for comics, short animations, and micro-stories
👉 Giving and receiving feedback on ASL visuals with growth in mind
👉 Experimenting with style while keeping clarity and readability
👉 My fave: Collaboration ideas, prompts, and fun mini-challenges!
To start, I’d love for everyone to introduce themselves:
👉 Your name / creative handle & link your social media/website!
👉 What you’re working on right now?
👉 One thing you’re excited about learning from here
I’ll start here!
Hi, I’m Destiny Slater (Sakeozo). I love drawing and animating characters, especially if they use ASL, while also exploring clarity in new ways to tell stories, visually-wise. I’m really excited to see how we can all learn, create, and grow together, like let's think of this as our shared creative journey! 💚
