Third Places
A Third Place is somewhere outside of home and work that people can socialize. A "Home Away from Home", a place where the unrelated can relate:
Coffee shops,
Cafe's,
Bars,
Churches,
Clubs,
Hair Salons,
Barber Shops,
Libraries,
Gyms,
Bookstores,
Shops,
Parks,
Theaters.
In the book "The Great Good Place" it is argued that third places are important for democracy, civic engagement and a sense of place. In the revised edition it is argued that they are the answer to loneliness.
We MUST ensure our communities gather at Third Places.
