Your LinkedIn Profile Is Your Shop Window!
Why your professional profile deserves the same attention as your business — and how to know when it’s time for a refresh?
A friend of mine said something to me recently and it triggered to write this article.
“You know what?” he said. “You’re leaving too much money on the table.”
I asked him what he meant — I hadn’t even made an offer to anyone yet.
He said it didn’t matter. “Your LinkedIn profile works like your shop window,” he told me.
“Without a good, attractive shop window, your clients never get the chance to know about your products and services in the first place.”
That single sentence sent me straight back to my own profile — and prompted me to do a full refresh and revamp.
I want to share what that taught me, because I suspect a few people reading this are in exactly the position I was in.
Why Your Profile Deserves the Same Care as Your Business?
Most of us pour real energy into our products, our service delivery, our client relationships. But the profile that introduces all of that to the world?
It often gets set up once, in a rush, and never revisited.
The shop window analogy holds up because it’s exactly how people behave online.
Nobody walks into a shop with a faded sign and a dusty window, no matter how good the products inside actually are.
They simply don’t get the chance to find out — they’ve already walked past.
LinkedIn works the same way.
Your banner, your headline, and your About section are doing the work of that window.
If they don’t communicate who you help and how, the rest of your profile — however impressive — may never get read.
Three Things Every Profile Needs:
• A banner that shows what you do.
Not a generic stock photo — a clear, visual statement of your offer.
Mine now leads with “Creative Property Investment Techniques Specialist, Investor, Educator and Coach "
" How to Acquire UK Property Without a Deposit or Mortgage” ...
(Ofcourse, because of technical limitations in #LinkedIn we couldn't accommodate all of them in one go ; therefore we will use them at stages !)...
Because that’s the single message I want a visitor to walk away with in two seconds.
• A headline that states the outcome.
Job titles tell people what you are.
Outcomes tell people what you do for them. “Creative Investment Specialist; Empowering People to Buy Property Without Deposit or Mortgage” says more in one line than “Founder” ever could.
BODRUM PROPERTY GROUP Creative Property Insights:
• An About section that builds trust.
This is where the story lives — in your own voice, with your own experience, not a polished marketing paragraph.
Authenticity is what makes someone stay and read on.
A Profile Is Never “Finished”
The bigger lesson for me wasn’t just that my profile needed updating — it was that I’d treated it as a one-off task rather than something to revisit as my business evolves.
Your offer sharpens over time.
Your audience shifts.
The language that resonated a year ago might feel flat today.
A profile built once and left untouched for years stops reflecting the business it’s meant to represent.
A simple habit worth building: review your profile through a stranger’s eyes every few months, and ask honestly — does this still represent what I do today?
While I’m Here — What Bodrum Property Group Actually Does:
Updating my profile was also a good prompt to make sure everyone following along actually knows the full picture of what we do.
Bodrum Property Group operates across three connected pillars:
Property Investment & Trading,
Consultancy Services,
Education & Coaching.
We actively source, structure, and complete deals ourselves using creative investment techniques — Lease Options, Vendor Finance, Rent-to-Rent, Title Splitting, and more and different investment strategies.
We support investors and vendors through deal sourcing, negotiation, structuring, and completion — hands-on guidance from start to finish.
Through Creative Property Skool Hub, we teach people how to invest and buy property creatively, without needing a large deposit or mortgage.
Each pillar feeds the others.
Deals we trade ourselves become the case studies that inform our consultancy work.
Lessons from consultancy become the curriculum inside Creative Property Skool Hub.
It’s one mission, expressed three ways.
The Takeaway:
If you haven’t looked at your own LinkedIn profile in a while, this is your nudge.
Not to overhaul everything overnight, but to look at it honestly, through a visitor’s eyes, and ask whether it still reflects who you are and what you offer today.
Sometimes the smallest update opens the biggest doors.
