Jim Rohn asked a question that completely rewired how I think about my life and my business. He said ask yourself this. Am I working harder on my job than I am on myself? Because if you are, you are building someone else's dream while your own potential sits untouched.
Jim Rohn grew up in a small town in Idaho. By 25 he was broke and embarrassed. He had a family to feed and nothing to show for years of hard work. Then he met a mentor named Earl Shoaff who told him something that changed the trajectory of his entire life. Mr. Rohn, if you want things to change, you have to change. If you want things to get better, you have to get better.
That one sentence turned a broke 25 year old into one of the most influential personal development speakers who ever lived. Tony Robbins studied under him. So did countless other leaders who went on to build empires.
His philosophy was simple. Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job you can make a living. If you work hard on yourself you can make a fortune. But more than a fortune. You can build a life that actually means something.
Sunday is the day to ask yourself the hard questions. What did I learn this week? What did I avoid that I know I should have faced? Am I closer to the person I said I wanted to become on January 1st? Or am I just going through the motions?
Reflection is not weakness. Reflection is how winners recalibrate. It is how you make sure the ladder you are climbing is leaning against the right wall.
