On a list of top cosmic horror writing… what MUST we add, and why?
For me, it has to be "Fourteen" by Peter Clines. This book starts off very simple: a young man just trying to find his way in the world and get an apartment that has a nice discount.
What ends up unfolding, however, is one of my favorite books of all time. Nobody is allowed to go into apartment number 14. Why is that? His curiosity makes for an epic tale. The audiobook is outstanding as well!
I've been on a quest to find a book just like this one for quite a long time and never quite found it. The rest of the books in the series are okay but they do get progressively weaker. In my mind, "Fourteen" and "The Fold" make a good duo.
Now for our newer members, I'd love to be able to compile a list of all of the top cosmic horror stories and recommend it to people whenever they ask.
What do you think should be added to this list and why?
