When I was about 14 years old, I spoke to my Nan for the last time.
She was dying of skin cancer. I will always remember this call. She told me to never do something just to please someone else, encouraging me to follow my heart against all the odds.
I can picture where I was when this conversation took place, and this advice keeps me motivated to chase my own dream and goals and to avoid the pitfall of falling into the conventions of society and conforming to the expectations of those around me.
I still miss her, but I carry this with me.
