Hey guys 👋
I’ve put together the first skeleton of the talk, but I don’t want to finish it in isolation. I want to use the collective intelligence of Community Industry to make sure I answer the questions that actually matter to you.
The talk will roughly cover five areas.
1. Money is still taboo
Why are we still uncomfortable talking about money, ownership and investment in the Community Industry?
The industry is relatively mature around Levels 1–3. Levels 4–5 move into ownership, exits, capital, M&A, valuation and deals.
3. Community M&A is already happening
I’ll look at real examples including.
4. You don’t need to be a billionaire
Community M&A is not only a Big Tech game. I’ll look at smaller transactions such as
5. The bigger picture
Instead of fighting each other as communities or platforms, what could happen if we worked together to build trust with investors and buyers coming from industries such as HighTech, FinTech, AI, Cybersecurity and Real Estate?
Now I want your input.
What is the one question about community ownership, valuation, M&A or investing that you would genuinely want me to answer on stage?
And if you know a real acquisition, transaction, failure, community or investor that I should look at, share it here as well.
I’ll use the strongest questions and examples from this discussion to shape the final version of the talk.
And I’ll record the session in Lisbon and bring it back here afterwards, in case we don’t get the chance to meet in person at the event.
Let’s build the talk together.
Thx 🙏
