Overall in the state, we have a real mix. We are one the verge of transition- U S Senator Mitch McConnell (R) will not run for reelection; Senator Rand Paul (R) runs for re-election in '28.
Andy Beshear (D) is governor. He is ineligible for reelection if '27 bc he has already served 2 terms. He is a front-runner for a possible (D) U S presidential nomination.
KY is a "red"state, and Beshear has remained popular due to his moderate approach.
KY has a very serious drug problem. It is severe in Lexington (fentanyl and opioids).
KY's average income is below the national average. Although the cost of living is lower that some. It is still a challenge for many families.
Our life expectancy is on the decline. Ongoing public health challenges surrounding chronic diseases, heart disease, cancer, drug abuse, smoking, poverty and obesity are primarily the cause.
We do have some interesting potential developments in McCracken County (Paducah). The DOE is slated to build a giant data center onsite of the former plant used to prepare uranium during WWII. Another private industry is preparing to build a uranium enrichment plant.
