What is Mineral Balancing—and Why It Matters for Gut & Immune Health
Mineral balancing is the process of restoring optimal levels and ratios of essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, and zinc in the body. These minerals are often called the spark plugs of metabolism—they drive energy production, regulate stress hormones, support digestion, and form the foundation of a strong immune system.
I recently had a Hair Mineral Analysis (HMA) done, and the results were incredibly insightful. Unlike blood tests that give a snapshot in time, HMA shows how your body has been handling stress, nutrition, and toxicity over the past 3 months.
Some top-line findings from my test:
  • Low potassium and magnesium, which reflects adrenal fatigue and sluggish energy.
  • Low zinc and phosphorus, pointing to weak protein synthesis and compromised digestive capacity.
  • A slow-mixed oxidation pattern—basically, my body is stuck in second gear, trying to generate energy under prolonged stress.
  • Elevated arsenic and aluminum, suggesting a toxic burden that could be blocking healing.
  • A high sodium/potassium ratio, associated with acute stress and inflammation.
This all confirms what I’ve been feeling physically—but it also gives me a roadmap forward.
For the next 12 weeks, I’ll be combining:
  • A tailored mineral protocol to support adrenal and thyroid function
  • A low-FODMAP ketogenic diet to reduce gut irritation and stabilise blood sugar
  • A big focus on rest and parasympathetic recovery
Then I’ll retest and see how things are shifting.
If you’re struggling with chronic gut issues or immune dysfunction, mineral balancing is 100% worth exploring. It’s not a quick fix—but it builds a real foundation for healing.
