Checkers to Chess is built for beach volleyball coaches, from high school coaches to club directors. Every page is written coach to coach: how to run the drill, why it works, and how to progress it. It covers every skill, plus mental training, fitness, game strategy, recruiting, and how to run a club.
I'm Matt Heath, director of Vero Beach Volleyball and head coach at Vero Beach High School. Our club won the first club state championship on the Florida Beach Coalition tour, a circuit I started with a colleague. The high school team has won five straight district titles and went 74-9 in its first five years. I also worked with the AVP's men's Palm Beach Passion pair, Phil Dalhausser and Trevor Crabb.
