πŸ“Start Here β€” How The Village Works
πŸ“ Start here β€” how the village works
If you're new, read this first.
What this is A community for parents of school-age kids who want real, local support β€” not another app, not a service, not a group chat that dies after week two.
What this isn't A place to find paid childminders or nannies. This is about parents supporting parents β€” pickups, holiday cover, the school-gate small talk that turns into actual friendship.
How to get the most out of it
  1. Introduce yourself β€” kids' ages, your area, what a "good week" looks like for you right now.
  2. Post when you need something. Specific is better than vague. "Can anyone cover Thursday 3pm pickup near Oakfield Primary" gets a faster yes than "does anyone ever help with pickups."
  3. Offer before you need. The members who give first are the ones who get the most support back later. It's not transactional β€” it's just how trust gets built.
  4. Use the location tags so we can start connecting people who are actually near each other.
  5. Be patient. Real community takes a few weeks to warm up. Keep showing up.
A word from Mama T: "It takes a village β€” but first you have to build one. That's what we're doing here, one favour at a time."
A word from Jay: "I missed three pickups before I asked for help once. Don't be me. Ask early."
Welcome in. Glad you're here.
