Salut! Today you're learning two of the most essential verbs in French — and together they'll unlock a whole new range of things you can say.

Vouloir — To want
Je veux — I want
Tu veux — You want
Il / Elle / On veut — He / She / We wants
Nous voulons — We want
Vous voulez — You want (formal / plural)
Ils / Elles veulent — They want
Pouvoir — To can / To be able to
Je peux — I can
Tu peux — You can
Il / Elle / On peut — He / She / We can
Nous pouvons — We can
Vous pouvez — You can (formal / plural)
Ils / Elles peuvent — They can
These two verbs are almost always followed by another verb — je veux manger (I want to eat), je peux venir (I can come). Learn them together and you'll use them every single day!
