Conquering Chaos With Christ
Scripture
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33
Reflection
Chaos is not foreign to the human soul. We feel it in storms, in uncertainty about the future, and in the battles within our own hearts. Jesus never pretended that life would be free from this. In fact, He promised the opposite: “In this world you will have trouble.”
But He also gave us a greater truth. In the very face of chaos, He declared, “Take heart! I have overcome the world.”
When the sea raged, He spoke, “Peace! Be still!” (Mark 4:39). When fear gripped His disciples, He said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” (Matthew 14:27). When Jairus received word that death had won, Jesus answered, “Do not be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5:36).
The proper calling of the soul is not to retreat from the unknown but to follow Christ through it. He calls us, “Follow me” (Matthew 4:19), even when we do not know the way. His presence becomes our anchor, His word our stability, His Spirit our strength.
Application
  • Name your chaos. Where is the storm swirling around you—health, finances, relationships, purpose?
  • Speak Christ’s word into it. Just as He commanded the sea, let His promises steady you.
  • Step forward in faith. The unknown is not empty—it is filled with the presence of the One who goes before you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the One who calms storms and walks on waves. Teach me not to run from chaos, but to meet it with Your presence and power. Strengthen my soul to follow You into the unknown, trusting that You have already overcome the world. Amen.
