I'd never even heard of this wood before, but the moment I saw it, my hand-to-wallet reflex kicked in.
The grain on this piece is absolutely unreal. Instantly, I started imagining transforming it into a live Tanto or Wakizashi, with the natural figure flowing along the curvature of the handle and sheath.
The only downside? There’s only enough material here to make 3 or 4 pieces...
But that's exactly the direction we're heading—creating exceptionally rare functional works of art from the exotic woods I somehow keep collecting.
