TIP OF THE DAY
I'm in LA and I noticed a how different the culture is here. The Film culture here will cast people very last minute while theater tends to cast earlier out. That being said, it creates an interesting problem. How do you get actors to commit to a theatrical endeavor when they could make more money at Film gig? It becomes complicated. Equity theaters out here commonly have an "out clause" that will allow an actor to exit a project if they get a better opportunity. We at SAW The Musical The Unauthorized Parody of SAW decided to have multiple swings and understudies instead of an "out clause" in our contracts. So there are always multiple ways to solve a problem.
