My first automation failed, but here’s what I learned…

When I first discovered n8n, I was so pumped to automate everything.

I set up my first workflow — I thought it was brilliant. Google Sheets, Gmail, a webhook, the works.

I hit "execute"...and nothing happened.

No email sent, No data updated. Just silence and an error message I didn’t even understand.

I felt stuck, embarrassed, and honestly a little dumb. But I didn't quit.

Instead, I slowed down. I went back, step by step. I started watching the logs. Reading docs. Breaking big ideas into smaller ones.

It took hours. But that failed automation taught me more than any tutorial ever could.

And eventually? I fixed it. Then I improved it. And now I’ve built dozens of automation that actually work and save clients hours every week.

Failure isn’t the end. It’s part of the process. Especially in automation. Especially in freelancing.

So if you’ve hit a wall, you’re not alone.
