Perseverance is a strong root
How are you growing in perseverance?
Perseverance isn’t just about waiting—it’s about staying committed even when the process feels long and tough. If you're too focused on quick results, whether in fitness, life, or overcoming lust, you’re more likely to get frustrated and give up.
Think about fitness. If someone is eager to get stronger but constantly thinks, “I just want to be ripped already,” they’ll likely give up when results don’t come fast enough. But those who stay consistent—sticking to their workouts, eating right, and trusting that results will come—are the ones who actually see progress. Lust works the same way. If your mindset is, “I just want to be married already so I don’t have to deal with this urge anymore,” or “I just want these temptations to go away already,” you’re missing the point. Marriage won’t give you self-control—learning to overcome the urge now will. True freedom comes when you learn to persevere through temptation, instead of hoping it will just go away. Freedom isn’t the absence of temptation—it’s the ability to say no to it.
So, how do you grow in perseverance?
  • Shift your focus to growth, not just results. Celebrate small wins and acknowledge that lasting change takes time. (Make a post about your wins, not just your fails!)
  • Build endurance through spiritual discipline. Pray consistently, meditate on Scripture, and fast to strengthen your self-control.
  • Stay present instead of rushing the process. Instead of asking, “When will this be over?” ask, “How can I grow through this?”
  • Trust God’s timing. He’s using your struggle to refine you, not to punish you.
The more you persevere and the longer you go, the easier it becomes to overcome temptation. Why? Because God strengthens you when you show Him you truly want to change.
📖 Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”
