TEST THE SPIRIT ☕️👀
Because not everything that feels good is GOD.
Sis… let me tell you something I learned the hard way.
There was a season where I kept saying:
“God, I just want peace.”
“I just want people around me that feel safe.”
“I just want to stop being stressed out.”
So when somebody came into my life and it felt easy…
I thought it was God.
They were sweet.
They were consistent at first.
They knew what to say.
They even had scripture in their mouth.
And baby… they smiled so hard, I thought they were sent.
But looking back…
that smile wasn’t love.
It was access.
Because the truth is…
some spirits don’t show up with horns.
They show up with compliments.
They show up with “I’m proud of you.”
They show up with “I support you.”
They show up with “God told me to connect with you.”
And I fell for it because I was in a vulnerable place.
I was tired.
I was healing.
I was trying to build.
I was trying to trust again.
So I let them in.
Not just into my space…
I let them in my mind.
I started sharing my goals.
My plans.
My next moves.
My prayers.
My weak spots.
And that’s when the shift happened.
At first… they were cheering.
Then suddenly…
they started questioning everything.
Little slick comments like:
“Do you really think that’s gonna work?”
“Everybody doing that… you not the only one.”
“You doing too much.”
“You too spiritual.”
“You too emotional.”
And I couldn’t figure out why I felt so heavy after talking to them.
Because nothing they said was technically rude…
But every conversation left me feeling:
  • drained
  • confused
  • second guessing myself
  • smaller than I was before
That’s when God checked me.
Not with a loud voice.
With a feeling I couldn’t ignore.
That quiet discomfort that whispers:
“Something ain’t right.”
And I tried to brush it off because they were “nice.”
But nice doesn’t mean safe.
And then I remembered what the Bible says:
📖 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits…” — 1 John 4:1
Meaning…
Stop letting “good vibes” be your only confirmation.
Because some spirits come smiling.
Some spirits come helpful.
Some spirits come acting like a blessing…
But they’re really a distraction.
☕️ THE REAL PROBLEM:
I thought discernment was paranoia.
But discernment is protection.
Discernment is when God is warning you BEFORE you get hurt.
It’s when you can’t explain it…
but you can FEEL it.
Here’s how you stop getting played by “nice” spirits:
✅ 1. Watch the fruit, not the words
People can talk holy and still move funny.
📖 “You will know them by their fruits.” — Matthew 7:16
✅ 2. Pay attention to how you feel after
If you feel anxious, drained, or off every time…
that’s your answer.
✅ 3. Stop telling everybody your next move
Some people don’t want to stop you directly…
they just want to get close enough to sabotage you quietly.
✅ 4. Ask God for wisdom, not just peace
Because peace without wisdom will still get you trapped.
📖 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God…” — James 1:5
💛 LESSON LEARNED:
Not everything that feels good is God.
Not everyone that smiles at you is for you.
Not everyone that claps for you is celebrating you.
Some people are just gathering information.
So from now on…
I’m not just asking, “Is this person nice?”
I’m asking:
“Is this person safe?”
“Do they honor God?”
“Do they add peace or confusion?”
Because God will send confirmation…
But the enemy will send a counterfeit.
And the counterfeit always looks close enough to fool you…
until it’s too late.
