Sexual Ethics in the bible
  • Where do you feel shame, and what would it mean to rewrite that story with God as co-author? I feel shame most with my weight. Too often, my weight was used as a disciplining tool to take care of myself. However, later in life, I learned I used that shame to motivate me "I'll prove them wrong".
That backfired. I identity in Christ issues, I thought God's love was conditional, and finally when I got married, I had all sorts of body/emotional issues.
I think purity culture does this (intentionally/unintentionally): in order to temper sexuality (a gift from God) it says that sex/sexuality is dirty... therefore to want it means we are dirty.
What do you think?
