Honoring
If you run two dogs, your dog's ability to honor another dog's retrieve is as important as his own.
How I introduce it: bring in a steady dog as the working dog and have your dog sit at heel and watch. If he moves, the working dog stops.
He'll figure out fast that his job is to watch, not go.
