Lesson 8 — RP Etiquette: Micro-Immersion Habits
Most people think good RP is big moments… but the city feels real because of small habits. The way you greet someone, the way you park, how you stand during a convo — those details separate “playing a game” from “living in a city.”
Science bite (why micro-immersion works)
Your brain is constantly asking: “Is this real enough to lock in?”Micro-immersion habits help because they:
  • reduce “gamey” moments that break your attention
  • give your brain predictable social signals (greetings, body language, clean goodbyes), which builds trust faster
  • add more sensory + story detail, which strengthens immersion and memory
  • keep you in a smoother focus state because you’re acting with purpose, not just standing still
In simple terms: small realistic actions help your brain stay in the scene longer.
The 5 Core Micro-Immersion Habits
1) Greet like a real person
When you meet up with someone:
  • walk up calmly (don’t sprint into their face)
  • stop at a normal distance
  • use a greeting emote (handshake / dap / hug / nod / wave)
Try this:As soon as you get within a few steps, hit one greeting emote every time.
2) Close the interaction (don’t just vanish)
Before you leave, do what you’d do IRL:
  • quick dap/handshake/hug
  • a final line like “be safe / good looks / I’ll hit you later”
  • walk away naturally
Try this:Make it a personal rule: every goodbye gets a closing emote.
3) Park like you live there
When you pull up to a store, job, or meetup:
  • pull into an actual parking space
  • don’t park on the sidewalk
  • don’t block doors, ramps, or driveways
  • straighten the car like you care
Try this:If you can’t find a spot, park nearby and walk — it instantly feels more real.
4) Use “body language” while you talk
Standing stiff kills immersion. During conversations:
  • sit in a chair
  • lean on a counter/wall
  • use casual idle emotes (arms crossed, relaxed stance, etc.)
Try this:Any convo longer than 30 seconds → pick one “body language” emote.
5) Move with purpose
Even if you’re chilling, look like you’re doing something:
  • walk instead of sprint
  • turn your body toward who’s speaking
  • don’t spam emotes (one is enough)
Try this:Slow down your movement in public spaces — it makes everything feel cinematic.
Mini Challenge (do this tonight)
Pick ONE scene and commit to all three:
  1. greet emote
  2. park properly
  3. goodbye emote
You’ll notice people respond differently — more respect, smoother energy, better RP.
Community Emote Cheat Sheet (let’s build it together)
I’m going to drop a few emotes I know below. If you know any emotes offhand, feel free to comment them and we’ll build a full cheat sheet together.
Starter emotes (examples):
  • Handshake: _/nearby handshake_____
  • Dap/Fist bump: _/e bro2_____
  • Hug: _/e hug_____
  • Wave: _/e wave_____
  • also let's put instruction on how 2 key bind emotes.
