Hey guys — since I just joined, I figured I’d drop something useful for anyone thinking about adding automations to their business.
One question I get all the time from business owners is:
“Should I use Make or n8n?”
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. It really depends on how much control you need vs how fast you want to move.
Make
- Easier to get started
- Very visual (drag-and-drop)
- Great for standard automations with common tools
Where Make can struggle
- Less flexibility once you get past the “template” stage
- Custom logic can get annoying
- You can hit a ceiling as workflows get more complex
n8n
- Way more flexible
- Handles custom logic + edge cases better
- Better when workflows need to scale or evolve over time
Where n8n can struggle
- Steeper learning curve
- Takes more upfront thinking to build cleanly
How I think about it:If you want speed and simplicity → MakeIf you want control and long-term flexibility → n8n
And honestly, the tool matters less than the system behind it.The goal isn’t “automation”… it’s reliability (so things don’t break when you’re busy).
