THE PATH THAT SETS ME FREE
You speak in circles, never straight,
hide every truth behind a gate.
You fear the depth that feelings bring,
so you pretend at everything.
You call it calm, but it’s retreat,
you call it peace, but it’s defeat.
You shut down when the moment’s real,
too scared to name the things you feel.
You blame the world for every ache,
but never own the mess you make.
You point at others, never in—
afraid to face your own within.
I tried to meet you where you were,
but silence was your only blur.
And so I learned what distance means:
to love myself beyond your scenes.
Emotional growth is earned, not owed—
and you chose fear along the road
I choose the path that sets me free,
the one you’re still too blind to see.

Reflection Questions
Where in your life have you mistaken someone’s avoidance for peace, and what did it cost you?
What boundary did you recently set that showed you how much you’ve grown?
