I am just getting started on refurbishing a vintage pepboys sculpture for a friend. It was in rough shape after another fellow tried to fix it up with a few different kinds of materials and then gave up after realizing how much work it would actually be.
Luckily I got my art school degree in sculpture and paper mache is one of my favorite materials to work with so I happen to know just what to do!
I have spent a few full days on it so far, patching, sanding, sealing and priming the backside and bottom half first.
Next up I will be doing the faces and checking all the surface details after a 2nd coat of primer goes on. And then the final step will be matching the original colors and repainting it and sealing it with a clear coat to restore it to it's full glory.
I'll share more pictures when I get further along with it but I like sharing these pictures to document the process.
Please feel free to share your works in progress here too. I love seeing what you're all up to!
