What Does It REALLY Take to Sell Your Art Long-Term?
SYou got some momentum going.
But let’s be real, selling art isn’t a one-week game.
If you want to turn your art into a long-term, thriving business, you need three things.
And no, it’s not just “being talented” (though that helps for sure).
1. Eyeballs: Get Seen
No eyeballs, no sales. It’s that simple.
Back in the day, artists relied on galleries and exhibitions.
Today? Social media is your gallery, and the world is your audience.
But let’s be honest, social media can feel like screaming into the void.
The trick? Find your people.
I went into Facebook groups where I could find my ideal buyer, posted my work, and got hundreds of likes, comments, and new fans.
I didn’t wait for people to magically find me.
Are you getting enough eyeballs on your work?
If not, that’s your first mission.
2. Connection: Make Them Care
People don’t buy art because they need it.
They buy it because they feel something.
Your job is to build relationships.
Talk to your audience.
Tell your story.
Engage with them.
Make them feel like they know you, because when people know, like, and trust you, that’s when the sales start rolling in.
3. Ask: The most powerful word
Here’s the biggest mistake artists make: they do all the work, getting seen, building relationship and then… they don’t ask for the sale.
Why?
Fear of rejection.
Fear of hearing “no.”
But what if every “no” was just a step closer to your next “YES”?
I was once very shy and so scared of rejection that I couldn't sell anything.
But I needed to take this to heart because this was the only way I could sell.
Once I did it, two things happened:
  1. I didn't die lol
  2. I sold lots of art
So, ask.
DM that potential buyer.
Share your prices.
Make the offer.
Because if you don’t ask, you don’t get paid.
