Welcome! I offer courses in the ethical and loving care of Angora rabbits. My unique approach to fiber farming focuses on the well-being of the rabbits, ensuring a humane harvest and a mutually enriching relationship for both animal and handler.
My philosophy
Inspired by the calm, gentle nature of Angora rabbits, I can demonstrate that fiber can be ethically harvested through careful, compassionate management. I teach students how to understand and respond to the individual needs of each rabbit, moving beyond production-focused methods to foster a bond built on trust and respect. My courses cover a range of essential skills, all centered on the principle that happy, well-cared-for rabbits produce the most beautiful fiber.
Course focus
Humane fiber harvesting: Students learn the proper and safe methods of handling these beautiful rabbits, coat maintenance and humane methods of shearing our Angoras.
Holistic rabbit care: Instruction includes proper grooming to prevent painful matting and wool block, along with balanced nutritional needs and creating a safe, stimulating environment.
Low-stress handling: Techniques for building trust with Angoras are taught, enabling students to handle their rabbits with ease and confidence.
The fiber arts connection: I also share my knowledge of fiber arts, helping students prepare, and work with the luxurious, warm Angora wool they harvest.
My work is a testament to the belief that producing high-quality fiber and providing a loving home for these beautiful animals are not mutually exclusive. I hope to provide guidance for students to gain skills and the ethical foundation to join a community of compassionate fiber producers.
