OOO! (Always loved putting that in my work calendar back in my corporate days) it’s like, oooh, I’m off somewhere nice!
Well I have, I’ve been at a 2 day event today and yesterday and heard the speakers discussing a lot of AI and a lot of Personal Brand advice and even a pitch or two for AI products that people are launching.
One theme that emerged for me was the negativity that was creating distance the places where AI is being used and the people using it.
There IS a possible disconnect between us and the AI we use. I think they are RIGHT! We’re learning.
But it’s almost as if we’re toddlers learning to walk.
I didn’t know what the heck I was talking about when I first introduced the idea of social media to my bosses when it emerged years ago. I just tried to use it, felt my way and took the journey to learn it. What else is there to do, I thought.
This is how I’ve seen AI adoption in the last few months and the gap between the person and the AI being used, is being talked about more and more.
Some people are finding it frustrating and some are using it, but saying it’s just for the back end systems; just for being a bit more organised.
The more visible side of business not being how they use it because their visible side of their business would be negatively impacted because people want real connection.
Connection is a word that comes up a lot.
But I thought, what do you mean by saying just?! This is wicked!! You mean you’ve tried it and it’s working for some admin and organising your day?!! That’s awesome! That’s more than 99% of us 😂
There’s bad quality images and video and some basic ads which could have been whipped up on Canva and saved the AI a job (and probably used less energy) 🌳
But what I’d really love to know is how YOU feel about the client-facing aspect of AI, because so far the technology is pretty good but it still seems like there’s a LONG way to go.
But still, we’re learning.
But there’s so many steps in your person’s journey which are left untouched by this sweeping statement. What about a little bit of automation for follow-up, saying the same thing as you would normally, just like we did with emails?
What about some better website interaction? There’d be a bit more time in my day if all the questions I got about what I do was answered by me, but a pre-programmed me (like live chat that knows what I’d usually say) 💤
I like a nap these days so it’s handy for that!
And what about thinking first before we rely on ChatGPT to give us original ideas, and thinking properly about what WE want it to do.
Isn’t there some amazing AI pictures and videos, Midjourney has expert images and they are amazing?!
I think the thing that came up for me when I was making my AI Twin and trying to use ChatGPT for images a year ago (spoiler alert, they were terrible)
(Had a to prompt where legs go!?!)
We should be thinking about what we want it to take away in terms of what we could delegate. Like the boring repetitive questions or hugely un-qualified leads on your forms 🤦🏼♀️ .
My mantra is think. prompt. think. And you can apply this to more than just your next ad artwork or email subject line.
One thing I did think which hadn’t occurred to me before was how I could help people at the event to be themselves, be real, be somewhere else 😝 so that AI works for me!!!!!
What do you think about using AI for marketing?
