Most of my projects push the limits of what AI can imagine — surreal, ambitious, sometimes ridiculous.

This time, I wanted to ground the work firmly in history and reality.

I partnered with my uncle, David Lucas, to bring to life scenes from his historical fiction series The Rice Kings — a story inspired by our family’s ancestry and the lives of early rice planters in America.

The results amazed me. It isn’t perfect, but there are many moments that feel like real actors are looking at and speaking to each other on screen. For me, that’s a breakthrough in storytelling with AI.
